Gather materials: 4 2x8 boards (7 ft), 4 2x8 boards (4 ft), 2 2x4 boards (4 ft), 2 2x4 boards (80 in), 8 2x4 boards (14 in), 1 box of number 10 3-in wood screws.🎯 Preparation
Gather tools: drill, impact driver, speed square, measuring tape, drill bit, gloves, eye protection, pencil, circular saw, Japanese pull saw.🎯 Preparation
Choose a flat, level surface for assembly. Avoid building in the final garden location to prevent heavy lifting later.🎯 Preparation
Lay out the width boards and draw a line 3/4 inch in from all ends for screw placement. Main Steps
Pre-drill three holes on each side of the width boards along the pencil line to avoid splitting the wood. Main Steps
Partially install screws in each hole, embedding them about 25% of the way. Main Steps
Align the width board with two length boards and install screws, embedding them 50% before fully tightening. Main Steps
Move the first half of the raised bed into the garden for assembly of the second half. Main Steps
Build the second half of the raised bed using the same steps as the first half. Main Steps
Stack both halves of the raised bed together for alignment. Main Steps
Install 14 inch long 2x4 pieces as corner braces for support and to connect the two halves. Main Steps
Pre-drill holes for corner braces and install screws to secure them in place. Main Steps
Add center braces along the length of the raised bed for additional support, especially for longer beds. Main Steps
Install the railings starting with the width boards, pre-drilling one hole on each side to hold them in place. Main Steps
Secure the width boards with additional screws, then install the length boards last for a better fit. Main Steps
Finish installing all screws and check that everything is aligned and secure. Finishing
Review the completed raised bed for stability and appearance before planting. Finishing
